I know we do a lot of talk about our Sim stories and that's fine. I just wanted to put a thread that deals with manuscripts/all prose stories.
I have many of them...The Gang and Nova's stories are based off of them (but aren't them entirely).
My number one manuscript is called How-to-Kill: My Master. It is the story of Nova's father and how he became the great and extremely feared being he is.
It's in first person view...and sort of chronological.
Lately though, I've been thinking about technique. There are some scenes in which I would like to go ahead and write, but in story progress I'm way off until that scene needs to be written.
So what's your thoughts? Should I just go ahead and write certain scenes and just let them float in midair or continue in chronological until that scene needs to be added?

I think that sometimes it's nice to have flash forwards to where the story is going to end up being, it can help build a bit of momentum, and knowing how it can end up, can be intriguing as you wonder how you are going to get there. Besides you can write you ahead scenes and not publish them if you so desire. JK Rowling always said that she had wrote the ending right near the beginning, so that she knew exactly where they were all going to end up, and that didn't really change.
